馮幗兒

Below are two letters from Mr. Henry Jiang, who informed us the passing of his mother, Fung Kwok Yee馮幗兒, some six years ago.

These are the type of mails we all hate to read but we greatly appreciate Henry’s initiative and efforts in reaching out to his mother’s old friends.  We are truly sad at the loss of another classmate.  May Kwok Yee rest in peace.

Henry reminds us to take good care of our health and not to take any illnesses lightly.  Let’s treasure our life and enjoy our companionship while we can.

Subject: About Fung Kwok-Yee

To whom it may concern,

I am the son of Fung Kwok-Yee 馮幗兒. I have been trying to search for some photos of my late mother and came across this site. I believe this is her elementary school class? I am regretting to notify that she has passed away on April 10th, 2007 around six years ago.

This is just for a heads up. I appreciate the website.

Best Regards,
Henry

Dear Mr. Tin,

Thank you very much for your email. I believed that it is appropriate for my mother's classmates to know about the news as during my father's university reunions, there have been classmates that have gone missing and they are all wondering about what happened to them. At the moment, I think none knows about the news as only the Chinese University of Hong Kong alumni know about the news. My mother was a very private person who doesn't really socialize but I believe it is appropriate to set a page in memory of her and I personally appreciate it very much. Here is a brief summary of what happened. I will forward clearer details when I find them.

Around the early 1990's, my mother moved to Canada with her family for the reason that Hong Kong was being returned to Mainland China and her family being overseas doing business, they were particularly afraid of the Communist party in both Vietnam and Cambodia. As they moved to Canada, I was born and my father came to live with us in Canada and our family obtained Canadian citizenship. My father then moved away to Hiroshima, Japan for work in a university but to maintain my education, my mother stayed in Canada with me. Every year, my mother would travel to Hiroshima, Japan to visit my dad for the summer holiday and take me back to school when the holiday ends. This happened until late March 2007 when my mother had a cough and fever but she kept on refusing to go to see a doctor due to some sort of trauma. My mother seemed healthy with a little bit of illness until one day when her voice completely changed and she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She spent around a week in a hospital in the ICU and then passed away on April 10th, 2007 due to pneumonia and organs in her body shutting down. I guess the sad but important moral of my mother's death is if there is any problem with the body, don't hesitate and seek for medical attention.

If there any more detail I should append to this, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be asking my dad for photos of my mother that are recent before her death. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Take care and I feel very happy finding my mother's alumni class on the internet.

Best Regards,
Henry
